Features of various red wine glasses
1. Bordeaux glass
Bordeaux red wine glasses, as the name suggests, are suitable for most French Bordeaux red wines. Because Bordeaux red wines are more acidic and astringent, it is necessary to have a long body and a tulip cup with a wall that is not very vertical. The curvature of the wall can effectively adjust the wine. The spreading direction of the liquid in the mouth, and the wider mouth can better adapt to the gradual Bordeaux aroma.
The fruity burgundy red wine needs to flow frequently in the mouth to taste, and the spherical shape of the belly can just meet the role of the wine spreading after the tip of the tongue first, and realize the full blend of fruity and sour taste; in addition, it is narrowed inward. The mouth of the cup can better condense the esoteric burgundy aroma; the larger mouth is more suitable for sticking the nose in to smell the aroma.
3. Champagne glasses
Champagne glasses are suitable for all sparkling wines. The main feature is that the slender body of the glass allows enough space for bubbles to rise. It is worth noting that the bottom of the standard champagne glass will have a sharp point, which can make the bubbles rich and beautiful. Of course, champagne glasses can also be used to taste ice wine, but the smaller mouth will reduce the aroma.
4. Sweet wine glass
The short glass body is a perfect match with sweeter after-dinner wines, which include naturally fermented sweet white wines and fortified Port wines and Sherry wines. The mouth of the turned-out cup gathers the taste of the wine well on the tip of the tongue, and the fruity sweetness is brought into full play.
5. Sauvignon Blanc Cup
The “best state” of white wine is under low temperature conditions, so in order to prevent the temperature from rising, the choice of wine glasses is mostly small. For example, the wine body of Sauvignon Blanc is light or medium, usually dry, and the thin body of the Sauvignon Blanc can reduce the contact between the wine and the air and make the aroma more lasting.
